The Honourable Irwin Cotler is Emeritus Professor of Law at McGill University, former Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, longtime Member of Parliament, international human rights lawyer, counsel to prisoner of conscience, and Founder- Chair of the Raoul Wallenberg Centre for Human Rights.
A constitutional, comparative, and international human rights scholar, Professor Cotler is the author of numerous publications and seminal legal articles, and has intervened in landmark Supreme Court of Canada cases in the areas of free speech, freedom of religion, minority rights, peace law and war crimes justice; he has also intervened before the Supreme Court of the United States, the Supreme Court of Israel, the Cour de Cassation of Egypt, and the International Criminal Court.
In 2015 he received the Law Society of Upper Canada’s Inaugural Human Rights Award.

Robert Charles Dunford is a partner in Gowling WLG’s Hamilton office where he is a highly experienced trial advocate. Robert routinely acts for major financial institutions, non-institutional lenders and corporate clients both within Canada and internationally.
In addition to his role as an advocate, Robert occupies a number of additional roles in the firm, including associate editor of the Commercial Litigation Review, leader of the student committee, and heading the Hamilton office’s pro bono partnership program with McMaster Children’s Hospital.

Lily Akl is a Senior Business Analyst at Kearney. She holds over 5 years of experience in large-scale impact ventures across Europe, The Middle East and Africa. Her experience focuses on social impact, education and sustainability.
Lily holds a MSc in Finance and Private Equity from the London School of Economics and a BEng in Engineering from the University of Edinburgh.
